Comparing solar companies in Vancouver is harder than it should be. Installer websites all promise the same thing, and most “best solar companies” lists online are pay-to-play directories. This page is different: we track 18 active solar installers serving Vancouver and the wider Metro Vancouver area — Burnaby, Richmond, North and West Vancouver, Delta, and Coquitlam — and between them they hold 1,069 verified Google reviews with a weighted average rating of 4.7★. Every company below is ranked by verified review volume — the closest public proxy for how many Metro Vancouver systems an installer has actually put on roofs — with ratings shown so you can judge quality alongside volume. 8 Vancouver Installers Worth a Closer Look
With 244 verified Google reviews at 4.7★, Shift Energy Group is the most-reviewed solar installer in our Vancouver dataset. They’re a Certified Tesla Powerwall installer offering residential and commercial solar, battery storage, and building-integrated solar (BIPV), backed by NABCEP-certified in-house electricians. Their SolarGuide Approved badge reflects our separate vetting process, on top of the review volume shown here.
Ready Solar holds 148 verified reviews at a 4.9★ average — one of the strongest rating-to-volume combinations in the Vancouver market. Based on Sapperton Avenue in Burnaby, they handle both residential and commercial installations and bring broader electrical-contracting expertise to the solar side of the business, which can matter for older Metro Vancouver homes that need a panel upgrade before solar can go in.
Milani Electric & Solar combines 103 verified reviews with a 4.9★ rating from Lane Street in Burnaby. Like Ready Solar, they operate as a licensed electrical contractor that installs solar as part of a broader service line — worth asking about if your home needs electrical work done alongside the solar install.
Stardust Solar matches Milani’s 103 reviews with a 4.5★ average, the widest rating gap among our top eight — worth reading recent reviews before shortlisting to see what it reflects. Based in Burnaby, they’re notable for running renewable-energy training programs alongside their residential and commercial installation work.
Polaron Solar Energy holds 87 verified reviews at 4.5★ from its Bridgeport Road location in Richmond. The company positions itself as one of Canada’s higher-volume installers with thousands of completed projects nationally, which lines up with the review count showing up specifically in the Vancouver-area data tracked here.
Penfolds Roofing & Solar holds 74 verified Google reviews at 4.3★, and stands out for longevity — they’ve served the Lower Mainland since 1937. Based in Coquitlam, their solar division works alongside an established roofing business, which is worth knowing if your roof needs work done at the same time as your solar install.
Power My Home holds a 4.9★ average across 58 reviews from its West Cordova Street address in downtown Vancouver — one of the few top-eight installers actually headquartered in Vancouver proper rather than a neighbouring municipality.
Amor Energy carries 54 reviews at 4.8★ from Silver Avenue in Burnaby. They bundle solar, battery storage, and EV charger installation as a single clean-energy offering, which is worth knowing if you’re planning to add a home battery or an EV charger alongside your solar system rather than treating them as separate projects.
Vetting a Vancouver Solar Installer: What to Check
Review volume is a strong starting signal — it’s why we lead with it — but it isn’t the whole picture on a purchase this size. Solar is a 25+ year decision, and the criteria below apply to any installer you’re considering, whether or not they appear in our ranking above. No installer pays for placement on this page, so we have no reason to soften this list.
Local install volume, not just years in business
“Years incorporated” and “years actually installing in Metro Vancouver” are different numbers. Ask directly: how many completed installations in Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, or the North Shore specifically — not just quotes? A company with hundreds of local installs has seen far more of the region’s roof types — steep older Vancouver Special roofs, newer Burnaby townhome complexes, coastal North Shore homes — than one with a handful.
Three warranties, not one
A BC residential system carries three separate warranties, and only one of them depends on the company you hired still being in business: the panel manufacturer’s product and performance warranty (typically 25 years, honoured by the manufacturer regardless of who installed it), the inverter manufacturer’s warranty (usually 10–12 years), and the installer’s own workmanship warranty (commonly 5–10 years, and only as good as the company’s staying power).
Ask about service, not just installation
Installers with in-house service teams can diagnose and resolve issues faster than ones who subcontract to third-party electricians. Ask directly — “do you have an in-house service team, or do you subcontract?” — and expect a specific answer.
Vancouver-specific context that changes the math
BC Hydro moved from 1:1 net metering to net billing in July 2026, crediting exported power at a lower per-kWh rate than what you pay to import — so an installer who still pitches “you’ll never pay for grid power again” math is using outdated assumptions. A good Vancouver installer should walk you through realistic self-consumption and export-credit numbers, not just gross production. Coastal cloud cover and rain also mean Vancouver gets meaningfully less annual sun than Calgary or Edmonton — a legitimate installer will size your system and set payback expectations around real Metro Vancouver irradiance data, not a generic Canadian average. And BC’s building code requires seismic bracing considerations for rooftop-mounted equipment that don’t apply in most of the Prairies, so ask whether that’s been accounted for in your quote.
Red flags
Green flags
The single best question to ask any Vancouver solar company: “How many installations have you completed in Metro Vancouver specifically, and can I see a recent one?” A specific, verifiable answer is the strongest signal you’ll get in a 20-minute call.
Our Methodology, in Plain Terms
Our ranking is built from SolarGuide’s directory of 220+ Canadian solar installers. For this page we isolated every company actively serving Vancouver and the surrounding Metro Vancouver municipalities — Burnaby, Richmond, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Delta, and Coquitlam — then verified each one’s Google Business Profile rating and review count manually on September 24, 2026. Companies are ranked by verified review volume, which we treat as the best public proxy for installation volume and long-term accountability, with the star rating shown alongside so quality is never hidden behind quantity.
Three things this ranking is not: it is not pay-to-play (no installer can buy a position), it is not scraped and forgotten (counts are re-verified on the date shown above), and it is not padded (duplicate profiles for the same company were merged before ranking — several listings in our underlying directory data had to be consolidated for this page). The “SolarGuide Approved” badge on individual profiles reflects a separate vetting process. Installers who want to be evaluated can reach us at hello@solarguide.ca.
What Solar Actually Costs in Metro Vancouver
Ranking installers is only half the decision — the other half is knowing what a fair quote looks like. Our full Vancouver solar guide covers current system pricing, BC Hydro net billing export rates, and payback math specific to Vancouver’s sunshine hours. For a quick personalized estimate, run your address through our solar calculator, or see how Vancouver pricing compares nationally in our Canada-wide solar cost breakdown.
Pro tip: get quotes from at least three companies on this list — one high-volume installer from the top five, one mid-size company, and one with a perfect rating — before you sign anything. Price alone is a poor selection criterion for a 25-year purchase.
Common Questions About Vancouver Solar Companies
Which Vancouver solar installer has the most reviews?
It depends on what “best” means to you. By verified review volume, Shift Energy Group leads Vancouver with 244 reviews at 4.7★. By rating consistency among high-volume installers, Ready Solar’s 4.9★ across 148 reviews is the strongest quality signal at that scale. For bundled solar-plus-battery-plus-EV-charger projects, Amor Energy’s combined offering stands out.
Is a bigger review count always the better choice?
We currently track 18 solar installers actively serving Vancouver and the wider Metro Vancouver area, holding 1,069 verified Google reviews between them. Several also serve Surrey, Langley, and the Fraser Valley — all covered in our full Canadian installer directory.
What should I ask before hiring a Vancouver solar company?
Look for review volume (not just a high star rating on a handful of reviews), confirm they pull the relevant municipal permits and handle the BC Hydro interconnection paperwork themselves, and get warranty terms — workmanship and equipment — in writing. Then compare at least three quotes before signing.
Does BC Hydro's net metering program apply across Metro Vancouver?
Yes — most companies on this list are based in Burnaby, Richmond, Coquitlam, or the North Shore and serve the whole Lower Mainland from there, not just the city of Vancouver itself. See our full Canadian installer directory to filter by a specific Metro Vancouver municipality.
What's a fair price per watt in Vancouver right now?
Most Vancouver-area residential systems run roughly $22,000–$30,000 before incentives, depending on system size and roof complexity. Our Vancouver solar guide breaks down current pricing and BC Hydro net billing payback math in detail.
